Mandy Johnson recognized as the Eastern Washington FAAST Team member of the year and nominated, then runner up honoree, for the national award. Her work to promote safety and work with pilots and the FAA to improve communication and promote safety in the sport makes a difference in the Pacific Northwest.
Mandy Johnson’s Pilot of the Year award from the the club, the Northwest Balloon Association, foe her support of the ballooning community and safety programs.
The Johnsons have always worked hard to create and support learning opportunities and safety training for the ballooning community while maintaining a positive working relationship with the FAA. This work was recognized by the FAA with their ‘Friends of the FSDO’ award.

The Montgolfier Diplome international lifetime achievement award from the the FAI to PIC Vic Johnson and co-pilot Larry Simburger for the ‘Over the Top’ balloon flight over Mount Rainier. The flight also carried air mail that was recognized and canceled by the Mt Rainier Post office and printed with artwork created by Chief Carl Sampson of the Confederated Tribes
Of the Umatilla Indian Reaervation specifically for this achievement. Chief Carl blessed the balloon and its pilots blessing them with a safe flight over the majestic Mount Tahoma.
Under leadership that including both Vic and Mandy supporting junior balloonists the BFA awarded the then local club a recognition for service to the balloon community.
